Salary: Starting range 85,000 – 100,000 based on experience

The Asphalt Paving Superintendent oversees all aspects of paving operations on construction projects, ensuring that the work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This role requires a strong understanding of paving techniques, materials, equipment, and project management.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Project Management:

• Building, updating, and maintaining daily prep and pave schedule with the operations team
• Manage daily operations on paving projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating work activities
• Ensure that paving projects are completed on time, within the predetermined budget, and up to the required quality standards
• Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance

Supervision:

• Lead, supervise, and direct the activities of the paving crews, including equipment operators and laborers
• Provide training and guidance to the crew members to ensure high standards of work and safety
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations

Quality Control:

• Ensure that all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable local regulations
• Address any issues that arise during the paving process and implement corrective actions as necessary
• Coordinate with quality control teams to perform inspections and testing of materials and completed work

Safety Management:

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations and best practices
• Conduct routine safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections
• Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near-misses on the job site

Budget/Resource Management:

• Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies needed for paving projects
• Achieve maximum efficiency by optimizing the use of labor, equipment, and materials

Communication:

• Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers and clients
• Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, and other documentation as required
• Attend project meetings and provide input on planning, scheduling, and problem-solving

Job Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred, but not required

Certifications:

• OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Training Certification
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• Equipment Operator Certifications
• Valid driver’s license

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in paving, asphalt, or related construction work is highly preferred
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of paving techniques, materials, and equipment
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and best practices
• Knowledgeable in and proven abilities with working within in a paving, landscaping or construction type environment preferred
• Ability to work efficiently within a collaborative environment and contribute to building a positive team spirit
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly preferred, but not required

Working Conditions:

• Primarily works on outdoor construction sites, exposed to various weather conditions
• May require working extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on project deadlines
• Physical demands may include lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and operating heavy machinery
• Salary based on experience level
• Company provided iPhone, or phone plan reimbursement of up to $60.00 per month

• Company provided laptop and monitor
• 10 vacation days and 5 sick days (per calendar year)
